He also creates nightguards to alleviate bruxism, a condition in which patients unknowingly grind or clench their teeth while asleep. Bruxism can be caused by TMJ or stress, and it will cause wear and damage to teeth.

TMJ dysfunction (temporomandibular joint dysfunction) is misalignment of the joints that connect the jaw to the skull. The condition can cause a long list of antagonistic, sometimes debilitating symptoms, including migraines, head and neck pain, popping in the jaw, inability to open and close the mouth comfortably, and tingling or numbness in extremities. The NTI-tss appliance fits comfortably into the mouth and keeps back teeth from touching. When the back teeth cannot touch, neither can the front.
