Dentist Chicago Services

Your dental health extends beyond your front teeth. We believe in overall dental health care to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Our office provides an array of services to ensure your dental health needs will be fulfilled. This includes discussing the preferable method to conduct our services - such as preventive, restorative, cosmetic and gum care - so your experience in our office is comfortable and to your satisfaction.

Cosmetic Services

We believe every component of a smile is important. Our cosmetic procedures can help you realize the full potential of your smile, from front to back. We provide superior cosmetic services—only approximately five percent of dentists practicing cosmetic surgery have the strong foundation and training of Dr. Ryan. Additionally, in our ongoing commitment to valuing your individual situation, Dr. Ryan will not conduct cosmetic procedures on patients with situations inappropriate for such work. We are dedicated to ensuring you are treated with respect and with consideration for your own unique circumstances.

We want you to feel confident about that all important smile. So, we will talk with you about the variety of cosmetic services and options available today. Many patients do not realize the advances in dental materials and technology available, which provide more effective and long-lasting results. Cosmetic services available include:

  • Tooth-Colored Fillings - Dr. Ryan has used tooth-colored fillings since 1998. We stopped using silver fillings in this office because we believe bonding technology has dramatically improved.
  • Porcelain Veneers - Veneers are a critical component of our practice. If a patient perceives they have unattractive teeth, it can affect how they interact with other people. Veneers are an attractive method to improve the appearance of your teeth.
  • Whitening - At Lasting Impressions Dental Care, we use Zoom! Whitening. The Zoom! In-Office Whitening System is a revolutionary tooth whitening procedure. It is safe, effective and fast - very fast. It eliminates decades of tooth discoloring in a little over an hour. It is important to have a consultation with you so you know what is going to happen. We also use at-home tray whitening if you prefer.
  • Orthodontics - Orthodontic procedures depend on each individual case. In general, new technologies such as Invisalign® provide exciting alternatives to traditional braces. Invisalign® is a natural fit to our practice!

Patient Comfort and Technology

We recognize that a trip to the dentist may not be an eagerly anticipated event. So we strive to exceed your expectations of us during your visit. We offer headsets and video glasses for use while undergoing dental procedures, and provide you with blankets if you are cold. We also use a simple, computerized medication delivery system called "The WAND", which allows us to administer medication injections with little or no discomfort.

Our commitment to your individual treatment and to your comfort extends to our office technology. No other health care field has experienced the tremendous growth in technology as much as the dental profession. We have come so far in treating and preventing dental decay, and that is why people are keeping their teeth more than they ever have.

  • Periolase™ - The PerioLase™ from Millennium Dental Technologies is the only laser designed especially for LASER PERIODONTAL THERAPYTM. A powerful laser with the unique features necessary to perform LASER PERIODONTAL THERAPYTM and all other soft tissue procedures. The PerioLase™ is the latest generation of dentistry's first pulsed Nd:YAG laser and the world's most widely used dental laser platform.
  • Brushing - Automatic toothbrushes, such as Sonicare, and overall technology are superior. With manual toothbrushes, you can lose your concentration with brushes and the automatic timers help out greatly to give proper time to brushing.
  • Intra-Oral Camera - At Lasting Impressions Dental Care, we put intra-oral cameras to good use. If you want a total smile makeover and a minimum of ten teeth are involved, we believe that you should have some assurance as to how the work will look in the end. The cameras offer a good representation of what you can expect. We also have books where patients can look at different tooth designs.
  • Lasers - We utilize the DeLight laser. The DeLight can be used in multiple applications, including hard tissue, soft tissue and endodontics.

Restorative Services

Have you ever covered your mouth while smiling because you were self-conscious about your teeth? Have you ever experienced discomfort while eating very hot or cold food? Your teeth encounter a lot of wear and tear over the course of your life. Gum disease, accidents and the general aging of your mouth can necessitate restorative treatment. We provide several services and options in restorative dental care that will be tailored to your own unique dental health plan.
Our restorative services include:

Preventive Care Services

Your mouth is in a perpetual state of war against gum disease and tooth decay. Native oral bacteria can repopulate your mouth only a few hours after brushing and flossing. The way we see it, an offensive approach is the way to battle these enemies of your mouth. Our preventive care, in combination with your attention and dedication at home, will help your teeth remain healthy and functioning.

Our preventive care is not just brushing and flossing information. During your check-up, we will do a comprehensive series of assessments, listening and observing to uncover health factors you may not think to mention. We will ask you about things you may not think to mention—like your bite alignment, the wear patterns on your teeth, your unconscious biting and clenching habit, or your tendency to snore at night. Your answers to these questions may uncover long-standing dental issues or reveal potential future problems.

Our preventive care services include:

  • Cleaning or Hygiene Dental Sealants
  • Regular Checkups
  • Snoreguards
  • Nightguards
  • Breath Treatment

In addition to the above preventive services, we use the NTI Tension Suppression System, a small device preventing certain muscles from triggering and grinding the canine and molar teeth. The NTI-tss device is worn primarily during sleep. You can learn more about the NTI Tension Suppression System at headacheprevention.com. If this is something you would like to learn more about, please call or email us.

We also believe in the importance of patient education. Dentistry has evolved so much over the past ten years that many people are surprised to learn all that can be done to help them with the health and attractiveness of their smile. In fact, even fewer people are aware of the extent to which dental health affects overall health, and vice versa. So at our office, we take the time to provide both the education and the proactive care needed to help you obtain and then maintain a healthy, lifetime smile. We concern ourselves with your overall well-being, talking with you about the details of your health and dental situation. Then, we assist you in determining the most conservative, appropriate long-term plan for your particular needs.

Gum Disease Treatment

In our practice we recognize there are so many issues with unhealthy gums. Some research has shown that unhealthy gums can be connected to blocked arteries and bad breath for example. We believe some of the inherent problems with your teeth are hereditary, but problems can also stem from environmental causes. If you smoke, for example, you have a greater risk of gum disease.

Proactive care can go a long way in staving off gum complications. We can discuss with you measures to decrease your risk of gum disease before any indications of it appear. Unfortunately, many patients do not address the signals of unhealthy gums until they are experiencing varying degrees of discomfort. One of the earliest warning signs, bleeding gums, is often ignored or dismissed. If gum disease does appear, we utilize charting and diagnostic services, which are a combination of taking x-rays, bone levels and the examination of the soft tissue of the mouth, to dictate the appropriate therapy.
